America's Identity is a graphic design thesis project centered on the topic of immigration, conveyed through a thoughtfully designed protest poster.
Problem
The poster addresses the problem of the heated and divided political climate around immigration in the United States during the 2024 election, highlighting how many Americans seem to overlook the crucial role and importance of immigration in shaping the nation.
Goal
The goal of this poster was to serve as a form of protest, delivering a clear and direct message on immigration, specifically highlighting how immigrants have been integral in building and shaping America's identity.

Exploration & Sketches
I initially explored and sketched various layouts, experimenting with different compositions and design elements. This process allowed me to visualize the poster's overall structure, refine the messaging, and ensure that the final design effectively conveyed the intended protest message on immigration.
Adding Design Elements
After exploring the layout, I began incorporating design elements and experimenting with typography. I focused on selecting a typeface that would enhance the poster's message, balancing boldness and readability to ensure the protest message was both impactful and clear. Additionally, I played with color schemes, textures, and visual hierarchy to create a cohesive and striking design that would draw attention and evoke emotion, reinforcing the importance of immigration in shaping America’s identity.
Color & typography
For the color palette, I chose earthy tones such as green, dark brown, white, yellow, and orange. These colors evoke a sense of connection to the land, reinforcing the theme of immigration and its integral role in shaping America's identity. The typefaces I selected were Futura Bold and Courier Regular, which create a balanced contrast—Futura providing a modern, bold presence, and Courier adding a timeless, clear feel.
